Mé Duniya is the first live performance test of my Sensorium Project, an ongoing exploration where dance, touch, and soft-robotic sensing meet on stage. In this work, the dancers dance with a custom-built fluidic haptic sleeve developed in collaboration with Dr. Lillian Chin and her students at UT Austin. The sleeve picks up pressure, vibration, and micro-movement in real time, translating them into shifting light and atmosphere in the space. Every strain, breath, tremor, and grounding turning into visible texture around me. This performance was my first attempt to bring the lab into the theatre, to let technology listen without controlling it. In this work, I ask "how can technology truly serve humans with different body-types and abilities." Mé Duniya (“What is this world?”) is also personal. As my knees change, as my body shifts through injury and age, I am searching for new ways to dance and new ways to understand what the body feels when words fall short.
