My research advances dance archiving, digital humanities, and experimental performance through Africanist and global practices. The work is rooted in Africanist traditions and outward-looking in its frameworks, asking how dance can be more justly accessed, preserved, and disseminated in today’s archival landscape. I investigate where dances originate, how they diffuse across bodies and geographies, and how systems of knowledge can reflect the embodied flow of movement rather than freeze it. This question has been the through-line of my work since my undergraduate thesis on developing contemporary Nigerian dance, and it continues to drive the computational, theoretical, and creative research I am building now.
